It is better to replace peonies in the fall, when there is no strong heat, more often there are rains, blossoming has ended and begin to grow backs massively. Plants have more chances to take roots. But there are cases when change has to be made earlier.
Change of peonies is possible only in April or in May in the spring. Dig out bush, trying to take as it is possible bigger piece of the earth on roots. Prepare hole on the site, it is better than the small size. Add the nutritious, friable soil there. At the same time avoid addition of fresh organic chemistry, use the rerotting compost, manure or full mineral fertilizer better.
In the summer especially carefully you watch peonies. Tear off the appeared buds, the first after change. Also water bushes daily. If the plant badly takes root on the new place, pick up towards the end of summer for them other seat.
Roots of flower can break off when you dig out bush for change as in the spring they are very brittle. Collect pieces and fragments of roots and put them on bed with the friable, nutritious soil, so you receive additional bushes in the future. Take wood charcoal, pound it and process cuts of the broken-off roots. In August you can accurately replace them to other, more convenient bed, without forgetting to water regularly. But it is the best of all to replace peonies in the fall. The place on the site where you will transfer flower, has to be solar and open. The close arrangement of underground waters is undesirable not to allow rotting of roots. Prepare the space for landing in 3-4 weeks prior to works. Dig out hole, fill it on 2/3 mix of peat, humus, sand and the garden earth taken in equal shares. Add 220 g of double superphosphate, to bank of wood ashes and tablespoon of iron vitriol. The rhizome of peony is dug out very carefully. As roots get into the earth on depth of 0.5-1 meters, it is necessary to do this long time. Do not use shovel, take pitchfork better, and dig round rhizome around, then pull out from the earth, holding from two parties with shovels. Leave plant for 2-3 hours in shadow to avoid fragility of root. Now you should separate peony to receive allotment and part of rhizome about 10-15 cm in size. Remove at the same time the small and begun to rot sites of root. It is better to do it by knife or sharp wooden wedge. Begin with division into 2-3 parts, and then more small. Before landing of allotment it is possible to place in the container with saturated solution of potassium permanganate to disinfect. Plant bush in ready hole, from above powder with the earth taken from kitchen garden. You watch that the layer was no more, than 5 cm, and then well water. Remember that it is regularly necessary to look after young plant, to constantly water, loosen the soil, to delete buds, to weed, spray from wreckers, etc. On the second year of life the peonies blossom seldom, pleasing with abundance of inflorescences later some more seasons, in the summer.
