All houseplants which are forced to exist in limited space of pot need change. Over time the pot becomes close, and the earth filled in it is exhausted. Change – excellent opportunity of updating and treatment of root system of plants, it is usually combined with their cutting and reproduction. Change of plants is made in certain time, normally in the spring before season of active vegetation.

1. Certain rules are developed for each plant species taking into account their age and specifics. Young plants which differ in rapid growth replace transfer of times in half a year – year, old – time in 2-3 years. The large plants growing in tubs can be not replaced, replacing periodically top layer of the earth with fresh soil.
2. Bulbous plants should be replaced after dormant period, blossoming on spring – at once after they fade. Violets and other small and gentle plants are replaced when it becomes already rather warm – in May. For hvoynik the best periods is the spring or the end of summer when their growth stops. For each plant certain terms of change – for some – rather rigid, for others – in several months are established.
3. If change is connected with the fact that the former pot for plant became too close and in drainage hole there were backs, then the following pot should not be too big. Usually the size exceeds it the size previous on 2-3 cm.
4. In case change is compulsory measure for sick plant with the decaying roots, the new pot for it has to be the smaller size, than old. At the same time the plant needs to wash out and cut off accurately all damaged roots, to process them wood charcoal and if necessary, several days to dry them then to replace.
5. Before beginning change, disinfect soil if you prepared them independently. The reserve of haydite, pieces of polyfoam and the crushed wood charcoals is necessary for drainage. If you replace prickly plants, then it is necessary will take care of protective equipment. New clay pots should be washed out and for couple of hours to wet in water to wash up harmful salts.
6. Kind of accurately you did not handle plants at change, it anyway will be for them stress. Experts advise to limit watering in the first several weeks after the procedure, to put plants to the warm place, and it is even better, to the mini-greenhouse, avoiding impact on them of direct sunlight. In month it is possible to switch over to the normal mode of watering and fertilizing.
