To cover with paper
Normal cardboard will approach. After watering put paper strips between ranks of plants, powder edges with the earth. Thus, you will block evaporation, and water will remain in the soil. When the heat recedes, do not hurry to throw out cardboard: it can be put in compost. Instead of paper , nonwoven fabric will approach.
To loosen, delete weeds
It is necessary to loosen the earth every time after watering when the earth a little dries up. And it is obligatory after rains. The friable earth delays evaporation, and moisture will not so quickly disappear from the soil. Do not forget to delete weeds in time, it is desirable with root — they ruthlessly select moisture at cultural plants.

The easiest way to pritenit vegetables, flowers — to build over them tents. Hammer on beds in flower bed pegs, pull on them burlap or strips from old sheets.
It is competent to water
Better less often, but it is abundant. Moistening is useless in the small portions: water simply does not reach root system. Optimum depth of watering: vegetables and flowers of 50-60 cm, trees and bushes — not less than 1 m. After water is absorbed, powder the damp site with the dry earth. The water droplets which have got on leaves and fruits will turn into lenses, and plants in the sun can strongly burn and even to die. Good time for the refreshing shower the first half of day.
