Instruction
1. Define in what way you intend to create lawn. You can lay the ready turf or sow new lawn seeds. Crops of lawn, naturally, will cost cheaper.
2. Consider location, height, form and the size of lawn. The lawn with right and accurate angles will look more solemnly, however further it is more difficult to look after such lawn, keeping its shape. It is simpler to contain the rounded-off lawn, it will be damaged less by the mower on turns.
3. Allocate the place on which the grass will well grow for lawn. The shaded sites near trees will not be suitable for lawn. Not the best place for the device of lawn represents the crude and boggy site; it needs previously to be drained. It is the best of all if future lawn is located on open area which gives in to drainage.
4. Start preparation of the soil. It is the best of all to prepare the soil in the fall, then on spring the lawn can be sowed. However, it is possible to prepare the soil and in the summer, and to sow lawn in the early fall. Process the site which has overgrown grass and long-term weeds herbicide. If on the chosen site stones or fragments of building materials meet, remove them.
5. Dig over earth layers that the fertile soil layer was from above. It is necessary for restoration of natural drainage and providing for plants of possibility of growth.
6. Choose mix of seeds to define what will be future lawn. Seeds mix, selecting different types of herbs. If to include ryegrass in mix, the grass will be strong, but a little rough. If you plan gentle lawn, choose mix without ryegrass.
7. After streamlining of soil layers and destruction of weeds dig up site, leaving large lumps of the earth. At the same time depth of digging-up has to be about one-two bayonets of shovel. Fertilize the poor soil manure, bird's dung or compost. In the early spring once again dig over the site, breaking large lumps to receive plain surface. Level the earth rake, in passing breaking lumps.
8. Having dug over the earth on future lawn, stamp it. Then once again pass site rake then stamp once again, now in opposite direction. Choose small stones and roots, do not receive uniform surface without hillocks and holes yet.
9. For crops of seeds choose dry weather. Stir the earth rake. Scatter seeds hand on all surface of lawn. To distribute seeds more evenly, separate the site rope. If lawn big, use the seeder which can be rented in gardening economy. After crops slightly close seeds the earth by means of rake.
10. Until the new turf is not established, weed weeds manually. Additional fertilizing within half a year usually is not required.
11. When shoots reach height of 2.5-3 cm, strengthen them, having passed on lawn the mower roller. On reaching height shoots in 4 cm you can mow lawn, having established knives at the height of 2.5 cm. It is not necessary to mow the lawns sowed since fall till winter more than two-three times. Surely remove fallen leaves from lawn, otherwise the young grass under them can die.
