If your old scissors to which you have got used have become blunted, you do not hurry to throw out them and to change for new. Today to buy good scissors not so easily. The widespread products of the Chinese production though are cheap, but concede in quality to the scissors manufactured in Soviet period. Therefore scissors which from time became worse to cut, better to grind and continue to use.

1. Examine scissors. Widespread problem – weakening of knives on axis. As a rule, the axis represents bolt which twists in one of knives, special rivet or the screw with nut. To eliminate weakening of fastening, in most cases it is enough to tighten connection, having twirled fastening element.

2. If knives are connected by means of rivet, the situation becomes complicated. The rivet consists of head and that part which is rivetted. Put rivet on metal anvil, and flatten out its back part by means of nail or other suitable subject. At the same time you keep scissors in the opened look not to draw them.

3. Scissors which have the bad course should be greased. For this purpose use liquid lubricant which is applied to service of sewing machines. Apply on axis of scissors lubricant drop, at the same time, as a rule, scissors start running more freely and more smoothly.

4. Close both knives of the tool and look whether their tips have connected. If they were not closed, undermine file the limiter located under ringlet of scissors.

5. When sharpening working surface of scissors you remember, it is impossible to change the angle of factory sharpening of the tool. It is necessary to sharpen scissors, making movements from itself, from the ends of knives to rings. The return movement when sharpening can is irreversible to damage the tool.

6. Open scissors, take file or grinding stone for sharpening of knives. Several times carry out by file from the end of knife towards ring. You hold at the same time scissors at an angle, tips up. As a result of groove the strip about 1 mm thick has to turn out. The standard factory angle of sharpening is equal to 60-75 degrees.

7. After sharpening of scissors it is not necessary to process in addition them abrasive paper. It is desirable that at daggers points there were microscopic hangnails – they will hold fabric when cutting.

8. For quality test of sharpening of scissors suspend piece of fine fabric and try to scissor it. If the cut turns out equal, and scissors have not a snack fabric, the tool is ground well.
