The diode is two-electrode electrotechnical element which conductivity depends on the direction of electric current. Today diodes have become widespread in electronics, they are used and in self-made electrotechnical devices. When wiring the device based on diodes it is necessary to remember some rules.

Instruction
1. Choose the diode according to the required parameters. Consider it to define polarity. Each diode has two poles - "pluses" and "minus". Long conclusion of the device indicates "plus", and short – "minus". If when wiring you solder the diode incorrectly, nothing serious will occur, it just will not work.
2. On payment plan the place for mounting of the diode. If you use ready payment, use standard openings for installation. If payment self-made, drill fixing openings in the place comfortable in terms of configuration of other elements of the scheme. It is reasonable to execute in advance mounting diagram on which places of fastening of electrotechnical elements will be schematically specified.
3. Prepare wires. They will be necessary if you need to unite diodes with other elements. It is desirable that wires differed on color – so simpler to define polarity at connection. Section of wires choose no more than 0.75 mm.
4. Insert the diode into payment. If you mount the scheme consisting of several diodes have them so that long conclusions were in a row on one party, and short – on another.
5. Fix the diode by bending of conclusions in the parties. If diode conclusions too long, bite off them with nippers.
6. Turn on the soldering iron in network and moisten sponge with water. After heating of the soldering iron cover its working part (sting) with thin layer of solder (tin) and wipe with damp sponge to remove residues of old solder. In the course of soldering periodically wipe soldering tip with damp sponge to maintain its purity.
7. Arrange soldering tip between claws of the diode and payment to warm the place of soldering. It is not recommended to warm the place of soldering longer than two seconds, otherwise the diode can fail.
8. Bring solder to the place of soldering. After melting of necessary amount of solder take away it from the place of soldering. Within second you hold the soldering iron at the accustomed to drinking parts that solder was evenly distributed on all surface of the accustomed to drinking conclusions. Wait a little until the place of soldering cools down. The contact is ready.
