How to stick radiator

One of unpleasant breakages of cars are radiator holes through which cooling liquid flows. Often this problem should be solved make-shifts, especially if nearby there are no HUNDRED. Or damages of radiator are not so considerable. Often for this purpose apply "cold welding".

It is required to you

  • - abrasive paper;
  • - acetone;
  • - epoxy glue ("cold welding");
  • - plastic cup;
  • - set of wrenches.

1. Define the place of leak then start dismantling of radiator. For this purpose it is necessary to unscrew fastening bolts which hold it, to merge cooling liquid and to disconnect hoses. After that the radiator can be pulled out outside.

2. Prepare radiator surface. For this purpose dry up it, and after that carefully smooth out abrasive paper so that to leave grooves and roughnesses for the best penetration of glue and its interaction with surface.

3. Process surface acetone for its degreasing. Important as it is possible to carry out better processing as the quality of pasting is closely connected with extent of degreasing of surface.

4. Prepare the gluing mix. For this purpose measure the necessary number of "welding", dissolve it in plastic cup and carefully mix. As a result the homogenous mixture which in the course of preparation can heat up a little has to turn out. It is better to prepare glue in the small portions that he has not managed to stiffen before drawing on radiator surface.

5. Apply adhesive substance on radiator surface. Wait some time until the patch cools down". You can putty and paint over the place of patch.

6. Establish radiator into place, connect to it all hoses, tighten mounting screws.

7. Fill in cooling liquid in radiator and check quality of the put patch.

8. Even the patch which is correctly imposed by means of "cold welding" on radiator is not durable and can shortly fall off. Therefore it is better to make at once after installation of patch radiator or to get new. Remember that components of "cold welding" can harmfully affect skin. Work in gloves.
