The rest of bolt got stuck in opening, and its extraction turned into additional efforts and downtime. How to turn out the broken bolt from opening? There are several ways to make it.

1. The easiest ways of extraction of the broken bolt are applied in case the place of break is close to part surface. Establish sharp core under inclination to the region of bolt and try to give easy blows of the hammer to bolt rotational motion – counterclockwise if the bolt has right hand thread. Sometimes it appears enough that the broken part has begun to be turned out. It is possible to try to cut through the Bulgarian in bolt groove under the screw-driver. The circle in this case has to be thin (0.8-1 mm) and to have very small diameter. If you managed to some of these easy ways to removeof broken bolt, it is possible to consider that you were lucky.
2. Most often for extraction of bolt it is necessary to drill in it opening. Make core mark in the center of bolt (for prevention of sliding of drill) and drill in it opening which diameter is less than diameter of bolt not less than on 2-3 mm. Depth of opening has to be 10-15 mm. If you have tap with left-hand thread suitable under the drilled opening, matters is extremely expedited. Roll the tap in opening. After resistance to rotation of the tap exceeds friction force in bolt thread, the last will begin to be turned out. Use of the tap with left-hand thread – the most certain way of extraction of fragment of bolt. If there is no tap with left-hand thread, grind screw-driver edges on cone so that its tip entered opening, at the same time edges have to be sharp. Easy blows of the hammer deepen the screw-driver in opening and try to turn out bolt with its help. Sometimes the broken bolt can be removed, using the tap with right hand thread. If the bolt begins to be wrapped more deeply under the influence of the tap, begin to turn out it. The bolt can begin to be turned out together with the tap. The fir-tree of it has not occurred, turn out the tap and wrap instead of it bolt of suitable diameter with lock-nut, navernuty on it. When the bolt is wrapped on several turns, tighten lock-nut and turn out auxiliary bolt together with the broken bolt.
3. If the broken bolt has diameter more than 10-12 mm, and the line of break is close to part surface, it is possible to try to weld any suitable piece of metal on bolt and to turn out bolt with its help. This way demands from the welder of high qualification. The inexperienced worker can unintentionally weld bolt on part that will make problem of extraction of bolt even more difficult.
4. In case all above-mentioned ways were unsuccessful, just drill bolt drill which diameter is equal or close to diameter of the broken bolt. Then drill opening under new thread of the next bigger size – for example if the thread of bolt was M8, then the new thread has to be M10 or M12.
