Plants-sideraty are applied to improvement of properties of the soil and increase in its fertility. When using siderat, structural indicators of the soil improve, it is enriched with microelements and nutrients.

Instruction

1. Usually in agriculture as green fertilizers bean and cereal cultures are used. Plants grow to certain sizes, then mow them. Mowed plants can be used as compost, mulch, for preparation of fertilizing. Roots of plants fill stocks of organic chemistry and nitrogen in the soil.

2. Use of cereal cultures as siderat allows to improve physical properties of the soil. Especially favorably to use them on heavy soil. In such conditions the cereals well loosen deep soil layers and improve its fertility. On light soil the cereals successfully detain water and enrich the soil with organic matters. One of plants which is used as green fertilizer is barley.

3. Barley belongs to one-year cereal culture. Well grows on loamy soils. On sour and sandy soils grows much worse.

4. The root system and green material of barley suppresses growth and development of weed plants. In green material of barley there is the same amount of mineral substances, as well as in manure. Weight in the soil decays quicker than other organic fertilizers and provides plants with nutrients. Barley increases quantity of useful soil microorganisms as is for them food. Also barley reduces acidity of the soil, increases moisture capacity and water permeability. Salutary effect of barley on the soil lasts up to 4 years.

5. Barley can be sowed in several terms: in the early spring, at the end of summer and in the early fall. Allotment is plowed up, in small squares it is possible to carry out soil cultivation by Fokin's subsurface cultivator. Practically at once it is necessary to carry out crops of seeds. Crops of barley are slightly rolled. If soils dry, then it is necessary to make watering. The quicker there will be shoots, the green material to frosts will accrue more.

6. If crops are made in the early spring, then after building of green material it is mown, and the site is dug over under crops of other plants. The mowed grass can be used as mulch, component of compost heap or for fertilizer fertilizing preparation. You should not close up large number of green material to the soil as the fresh grass in the soil can sour.

7. In case of crops of barley at the end of summer or in early autumn, the grass is not mown, and left for the winter. Redigging is made only in the spring. In 4-5 weeks, all closed-up biomass completely will rot through in the soil.
