Squash - vegetable from family pumpkin. The unpretentious, but sacred plant and hygrophilous, belongs to early cultures. Prefers "to lodge" on light fertile soils where at regular abundant waterings yields excellent harvest.
Preparation and crops
For the optimum growth and development the squash needs infrequent fertilizing by full complex of mineral fertilizers. By the beginning of vegetation introduce fertilizers with the increased amount of nitrogen, by the time of development of fruits – with the increased amount of potassium.
The soil for squash is prepared since fall. Soil on bed is dug over on depth of 6-7 cm. Before it bring superphosphate, nitroammofoska and other fertilizers.
As well as many vegetable cultures, squash can be grown up in two ways – through seedling and crops in the discovered or protected soil. At seedling way and cultivation of squash in the greenhouse the harvest appears for 1-2 weeks earlier.
Crops of seeds of squash on seedling is carried out in the first or second decade of April. Before landing it is necessary to carry out preparation of seeds: disinfecting and prorashchivaniye. Then seeds land in plastic cups, in soft nutritious soil, on 2-3 pieces in everyone.
Care for shoots
Optimum temperature before emergence on the surface of the soil of shoots – from +28 to +30 °C. Then shoots of 4-5 days hold at +16 … 18 °C. The tempered seedling is watered and landed. Planting of seedling to greenhouses and any protected soil begins last decade of May. Furrows of 15 cm in depth, width between ranks – meter are preparing. Furrows it is previously abundant pour down. Seedling is planted in the "chess" way and covered with film covering if it is removed, for the best survival.
