Plate base: advantages and shortcomings

Plate base: advantages and shortcomings

The base from monolithic plate – one of the most reliable. But also it has both advantages, and shortcomings. The plate basis is reliable and durable, but is the most expensive of all types of the bases. However on it it is possible to build buildings height to several floors.

The plate base can be as buried, and melkozaglublenny. Besides, it is possible to put "floating" plate. The sole of the buried base is located 20-30 cm below than point of freezing of soil, melkozaglublenny – at distance of 40-50 cm from the surface of the soil. The "floating" plate is located on sandy pillow 50-60 cm high.

Advantages of the plate base

From advantages of monolithic reinforced concrete slab first of all it should be noted its property to faultlessly maintain high weight loadings. On such base it is possible to build fearlessly the brick 2-3-storey house, bar or log.

The "floating" plate is capable to compensate seasonal buckling of soil therefore it can be stacked in the conditions of high level of underground water, but located below freezing point. The building built on such basis is not deformed, but the socle and the base will need to be waterproofed qualitatively. The Melkozaglublenny monolithic plate – optimal variant for unstable soils (sands and sandy loams). One more advantage of the basis from monolithic plate that it at the same time is draft floor. It allows to save significantly on mounting of the lower overlapping or the device of floor in the basement. At construction of the plate base the laborious earthwork operations is minimized: it is enough to use services of the excavator, but the ditch will demand alignment and consolidation of its bottom. However and in this case the volume of earthwork operations it will be considerable smaller, than during the filling of concrete tape or installation of columns. The plate can be made "warm" that is relevant for northern regions. For this purpose it will be required to lay on ditch bottom polyfoam (or extruded polystyrene foam) and only after that to carry out dumping of sand and gravel. Such basis will require the plate made of concrete with the additives increasing its frost resistance.

Shortcomings of the plate base

The main lack of the plate base is that on it it is impossible to build the house with the high basement. For this purpose the plate or should be buried considerably, or to build socle directly on it. Any of these options demands essential expenses. One more lack of the plate basis – its high cost. Irrespective of whether mounting of timbering and filling of factory concrete will be made or to be used finished concrete products, considerable expenses are coming. In the financial plan it is much more favorable to build the continuous or column footing.
