The Scandinavian style in interior gains popularity every year. Designers more often address it in search of unusual decisions, the combination of natural materials and modern practicality helps to make interior cozy and functional. So in what this style differs from great number of the others? Let's understand in more detail.
Materials and furniture
First, it is materials. In the northern countries the people equipped the dwellings proceeding from reasons of durability and safety therefore they used only natural materials, such as wood, stones, ceramics. Preference was given in fabrics to linen, wool and cotton. All these materials will ideally fit into modern interior. Furniture is made preferably of light breeds of tree (cedar, some species of oak, pine, larch), as upholstery use textiles, linen, leather or cotton. Furniture is simple and practical: straight lines, any bulky elements and excess parts. All to release more space and to make the room is lighter. By the way, in the Scandinavian style the preference is given to sunlight therefore windows have to be rather large. As curtains it is better to use thin curtains from linen, cotton or other light fabric which will pass light maximum.Floors and walls
The parquet or laminate of light shades, ceramic tile best of all will be suitable for floor. The motley carpet strip or fluffy carpet will look very well, they by all means will add cosiness to the room. For walls it is better to use paint or plaster of pastel tones (most often use white, light blue, beige colors). The excellent decision is finishing of one or several walls panels or light boards.
Decor and accents
As basic colors of interior – pastel, quite often use bright parts to add highlight. It can be bright pillows and plaids, jewelry from branches or flowers, various panels and photos. Wattled baskets or boxes, unusual lamps, candles and floor lamps are very often used. At skillful use all these objects will create unique situation and the atmosphere of cosiness, heat and tranquility.
