Pluses and minuses of re-planning
The kitchen living room is rather widely used both in normal standard apartments, and in modern spacious buildings. Often the premises have the small dining room and rather large adjacent room. In this case it is possible to displace wall, having reduced, thus, the area of the living room and having increased the size of kitchen. Re-planning of kitchen living room has set of nuances therefore it is necessary to approach alteration of walls, having well thought over. Unfortunately, this design decision has both positive, and negative sides.
It is possible to carry to good points that the space visually extends, luminous sources increase since in one square two windows appear. However, there is also number of shortcomings of similar re-planning. For example, the smells which are usually accompanying cooking process will freely extend to the living room. Also, uniting the zone intended for cooking and recreation area, it is necessary to understand that the kitchen constantly will be in sight therefore there it is necessary to keep ideal order.
Design
Despite everything, the kitchen zone at least has to be visually separated from the living room. It is possible to achieve it by means of several receptions. The most popular is the bar counter. For this purpose it is possible to use part of wall which separated kitchen and the living room until recently, having turned it into semi-partition. It is possible to trim bar counter with panel boards, laminate or facing stone. Kind of this way it is possible to call the island which performing function of bar counter, takes place on border of two zones. Split-level floor can be used only at rather high ceilings in the apartment, similar zoning means raising of kitchen floor on 15 centimeters. Under podium it is very convenient to hide pipes, wiring and other communications. Besides, the option of combination of floor coverings is possible. On floor of the zone intended for cooking the facing tile, and in recreation area – carpet, parquet or laminate usually keeps within. Often as middle strip use big dining table with the surface mounted luminaires which are hung up over it. In this case different zones have to be in harmony surely among themselves. The wall separating two rooms can be demolished not completely, and partially. As a result, there will be wide aperture of arch or any other form. The living room combined with the kitchen room can separate translucent partitions. They can be sliding or folding. This way is very convenient since it allows to hide if necessary kitchen zone from public eyes. Before re-planning surely get permission of BTI accidentally not to demolish part of load bearing wall - it can cause dangerous consequences. Also you remember that categorically it is impossible to transfer kitchen utensils, plate, washing, etc. to the living room.
