Tiled carpet – popular floor covering which differs in high wear resistance therefore it is often used in office and other commercial rooms.
Characteristics of tiled carpet
The tiled carpet differs from normal, rolled, in production technique, way of laying and partly – exterior. The lower basis of floor covering is made of the thin wattled framework consisting of several layers of the reinforcing fiberglass. Fibers of material are located perpendicularly to each other, forming the rugged construction resistant to deformation and wear.
Among themselves layers of fiberglass are connected by solution of polyvinylchloride and bituminous pitches. The same mix fixes the surface fleecy cover. When it stiffens, strong compound material, rigid and dense is formed.
The fleecy covering is also made of artificial materials (polymeric fibers). Polyamide or nylon are most often used. They are evenly painted on all thickness and perimeter thanks to what differ in esthetic exterior. Pile is not abraded and does not fade, is resistant to influence of water and other external negative factors.
The tiled carpet keeps within sections that facilitates work. The sizes of each module differ at different producers, but most often are 500*500 mm. Thickness varies from 6 to 14 mm. At the same time it is easy to transport floor covering – its specific weight is in limits of 4.5-5.5 kg/m.
Advantages of tiled carpet
Characteristics of tiled carpet do it by good choice for commercial rooms of the big area. Besides, the floor covering is easily mounted and it is convenient in the subsequent operation. It is without effort cleaned from pollution and does not get out of shape.
Front nap part from synthetic material differs in high warm and sound-proof qualities. It keeps heat therefore approaches and for acc«mmodation, house spaces – on tiled carpet it is pleasant to walk bare feet.
Artificial materials of which the tiled carpet is made are fireproof. They are not subject to natural destruction, rotting. Unlike natural materials (cotton, cellulose), in this floor covering harmful microorganisms and mouldy mushrooms are not got.
The dense rigid basis provides reliable adherence. Edges and corners of modular tiles do not rise and are not lifted up, remaining equal and safe even for small children.
Especially the tiled carpet in rooms where there will be massive heavy furniture pressing on floor covering approaches. It is resistant to the loadings raised mechanically and abrasion. Besides, the modular carpet will quickly get into condition.
The structure of polymeric fibers of which the fleecy covering is made interferes with penetration of dirt, sand, dust, dyes and fat. Therefore it is possible to carry out clear-out in rooms less often, and for daily leaving it is enough to walk the normal vacuum cleaner or brush. Pile is resistant to influence of household chemicals, for its cleaning it is possible to use any cleaning agent.
If one of modules of design is damaged or damaged, there is no need to re-make all covering. It is enough to replace one tile that does operation of floor carpet even more economically.
Practically all purchased modular carpet will be used for designated purpose. Waste of materials makes no more than 1-5% that is much lower, than at rolled analog which unused rest can make up to 30%.
Commercial and household tiled carpet
In shops wide choice of tiled carpet is provided. Material differs on exterior and coloring, basis (it can be made of jute, rubber, latex, textiles), to pile type (igoloprobivny, loopback, the berber) and height (from 2 to 40 mm).
But the type of the room in which the carpet will be used tiled has to become the main selection criterion. Generally floor covering is divided into 2 types:
- Such carpet is applied in house, acc«mmodation spaces. It is more often used not in city apartments, and at dachas and in owner-occupied dwellings. Is suitable for rooms of the big area because does not demand a lot of time for laying. Differs in warm, soft pile of average length. The basis is made of textiles more often, but also other options meet. The external design and coloring are very different: it is possible to choose color gamma, suitable to interior, to pick up the original drawing or unusual decorative element. Such carpet does not absorb fat and dust, is quickly cleaned from the spilled drinks and other pollution. Dense pile reliably adjoins to floor.
- It is used in office, trade, other industrial rooms. It is often possible to meet at restaurants, hotels, shopping centers and other public places through which there passes the big flow of people. Differs in the bigger density and bigger wear resistance in comparison with household. The size of modular tiles is slightly more thanks to what the covering can be laid quickly. This option is more expensive household, but also is much stronger. In house conditions such characteristics are excessive, but not to find the best option for commercial rooms. The design of carpet is more laconic and universal.
Sometimes in separate categories allocate exhibition and children's tiled carpet. Exhibition it is used in halls of art galleries, on exposures, ladders. On technical characteristics it is closer to commercial, but concedes in wear resistance and durability a little. The prices of exhibition carpet are also a little lower, but is much higher, than on household.
The children's tiled carpet enters into group of household floor coverings, but differs in bigger softness. Pile most often high, materials exclusively hypoallergenic. The design is carried out with availability of bright decorative elements, drawings, prints. On such carpet it is possible to go safely bare feet, without being afraid of old pollution and dangerous microorganisms, and the equal covering does it safe even for the most small children who only learn to go.
