Types of fiber boards

Wood and fiber plates can be designated by fibreboard abbreviation more often. They represent the pressed mass of cellulose and synthetic fibers, water and various additives giving fibreboard special characteristics. Such plates - one of the most widespread construction and finishing materials.

Wood and fiber plates are made of waste of the woodworking and paper industry, but at the same time have number of positive characteristics which do them demanded in the furniture industry, construction, finishing and insulating work, automotive industry, production of joiner's products and various container.

Fibreboard - wearproof, flexible, strong, easy and at the same time cheap material.

Classification of fiber boards by method of production

The fibreboard can be made in the wet and dry way. The wet way assumes preliminary maceration of material in water. Such plates form under the influence of small temperature, and then dry up. Surfaces of fibreboard of wet method of production are various: one mesh, other smooth. At dry method of production mix of materials and additives comes to press in a dry form and in order that the plate was created, apply high temperature. The fibreboard of dry method of production has smooth surfaces and more friable structure at once.

Classification of fibreboard to destination

Allocate plates of the general and special purpose. Special purpose fibreboards are applied when from material some special operating ability is required. Distinguish from special purpose plates: - tsementosoderzhashchy and bituminous plates, they have high strength and are applied to construction of walls; cement fibreboards often use when laying floors; - biostable fibreboards, they are impregnated with special solutions which protect material from bacteria, mold, insects; - fire-resistant fibreboards which are applied to finishing of fire-dangerous rooms.

Orgalita - special type of fibreboard with the revetted surface.

Classification of fibreboard by hardness

The fibreboard important parameter - hardness. Allocate soft plates, their density does not exceed 350 kg/m3, and firm fibreboards with density from 800 kg/m3. Soft fibreboards are made at low temperatures, their durability is very small, but they have honeycomb which gives them good warm and sound-proof properties. Therefore such fiber boards are used for insulating works in buildings. Their most frequent application - thermal insulation of roofs. Soft fibreboards can have thickness from 9 mm to 25 mm. There is a lot of types of firm fibreboards. They differ by the form external layer - not improved, tinted, with wood pulp layer, - and also on density and hardness. The system of designations is developed for their classification. The main operational property of this type of fibreboard - hardness therefore they are used generally in the furniture industry and construction.
