When performing many types of construction repair work, sand which represents product of natural destruction or artificial mechanical crushing of rocks is used. It is universal material which finds application and for cleaning and as the component for production of some materials, it is used also in road making and landscaping.
Types of the sand used in construction
As well as to any construction material, the requirements established by standards are applied to sand. Effect of GOST 8736-93 in which definition is given extends to it: the bulk having inorganic origin with size of fractions up to 5 mm, formed as a result of destruction of rocks. For the purposes of construction commercially sand is extracted in the open way when developing sandy or sand-gravel fields. No special equipment for its enrichment at the same time is used.
In construction, except described in state standard specification, some more types of sand are used today: river, career and mountain. Career, in turn, happens washed and artificial. Each type of sand has the features and differences. If you are going to buy sand for needs of construction, the price of cube will depend on type of sand.
Bank sand
Deposits of bank sand get by means of pumps and dredgers from bottom of the rivers. It is, as a rule, the first-class construction material having the highest extent of cleaning in it is almost not present foreign organic impregnations and impurity, the size of fractions uniform.
It is not necessary to confuse with river sand which is extracted in the sea. It, of course too does not contain impurity, but in it there are a lot of salts therefore before use beach sand needs to be washed out.
Pit sand
Fields of sand are developed also in the career way. This method is used when sand contains in clay breeds. In this case it is got excavators, and then washed out in special installations, removing clay and dust-like particles.
Sometimes sand in the field is mixed with large pieces of other breeds and stones. In this case it is sifted, separating all impregnations which by the size exceed the parameters specified in state standard specification.
The artificial and washed sand finds application in draft finishing work, it is used for cement slurries and concrete laying, when filling the bases and on stucco work.
Pit sand
This type of sand is also got in the career way, it can be as natural product of the destroying impact of external factors on rocks, and the received artificial way when these breeds split up special mechanisms to condition of sand. If as initial raw materials granite, marble or quartz, pit sand is used use for preparation of fair finishing and decorative solutions.
