Walls from GVL: assembly of framework structure for 3 steps

Walls from GVL: assembly of framework structure for 3 steps

Walls or partitions from GVL and HL are built when finishing rooms by dry method. For example, in comparison with brick walls or partitions from concrete blocks the speed of mounting of false-walls from GVL and HL will be much higher, weight – is much less, and costs of finishing – are much lower.

What is GVL?

The abbreviation of GVL means gipsovolokonny leaf. Panels from GVL is alternative to popular sheets of gypsum cardboard (HL). From the technical point of view, the gipsovolokonny leaf is homogeneous construction material which is received by means of method of moist pressing from mix of the fluffed-up waste paper with the plaster knitting solution.

In what difference between GVL and HL?

The difference of gipsovolokn from gypsum cardboard is that the first material is more uniform in structure, and it is stiffened by the cellulose fibers entered into structure of plaster weight in the course of factory production of gipsovolokn.

If to look at cut of gipsovolokonny leaf, it is possible to see distinctly reinforcing cellulose fibers. For comparison: at HL the reinforcing function is performed by the cardboard layers (but not cellulose fibers) closing themselves on both sides the plaster basis. Quite often the GVL panels in addition reinforce that raises their mechanical strength.

Advantages of GVL in comparison with HL

The above reinforcing structure of gipsovolokonny sheets supplies them with number of advantages before HL. Here some of them:

  • the raised mechanical strength;
  • the minimum losses of durability during cutting in any direction;
  • the best sound insulation;
  • the increased fire resistance.

By the way, the margin of safety of gipsovolokonny sheets allows to use them as flooring for draft floors.

GVL shortcomings in comparison with HL

Unfortunately, GVL, as well as other construction and finishing materials, has the objective shortcomings in comparison with HL. Here they:

  • the minimum moisture resistance – when drying durability is not restored;
  • considerably reduced flexural strength that makes impossible use of GVL in production of curvilinear designs;
  • obligatory need of pretreatment of leaf for finishing finishing;
  • higher price in comparison with the prices for HL at the same dimensions (about 1.5 times more expensively); when purchasing large volumes of GVL the rise in price will be notable.

Purpose of GVL

Proceeding from shortcomings of gipsovolokonny sheets, it is possible to draw unambiguous conclusion: this construction and finishing material should be used only where it is necessary to protect wall (partition) from shock influence and damages and also where it is necessary to provide zone of the raised sound insulation.

Technique of construction of framework structure for 3 steps

Step No. 1. Production of framework of partition

With its further covering it is more reasonable to GVL to make partition framework (or false-walls) of metal section. Work is performed on the following algorithm.

  • Room marking. By means of the corresponding measuring tools, lines on which the framework of future false-wall will be established are applied on walls, floor and ceiling.
  • Mounting of starting profile. The starting profile fastens on perimeter, is reliably fixed by anchors with metal or plastic sleeves. Anchor twist in openings from 4 cm in depth. On the basis of starting profile in places of its contact with load-carrying structures (ceiling, floor) the sealing strip (anti-vibration elastic bands) is pasted.
  • Forming of aperture. Vertical racks are established from door opening. Edges of this aperture are made of elements which, in turn, gather from couple of rack-mount profiles, each other enclosed. Then the aperture crossing point which is cut and bent in form of the letter "p", only by inverted is made of rack-mount profile.
  • The final stage in production of framework of partition – installation of vertical racks. As soon as the aperture is mounted, vertical racks are established. They are inserted both from above, and from below into starting profile, being fixed by self-tapping screws. The step of these racks should be selected so that edges of gipsovolokonny leaf in the course of covering got strictly on the middle of guide.

It should be noted that during mounting of starting framework of partition it is necessary to think over and provide laying of communications (if those are) in false-wall in advance. For this purpose in the mounted racks openings for cable channels with electrical wiring are made.

Step No. 2. Framework covering panels

So, as soon as the starting framework of false-wall will be ready, it should be sheathed the GVL panels. It becomes by means of cutting of leaf knife on ruler. It is possible also in other ways, but this method – the simplest and popular.

  • The Gipsovolokonny leaf is cut by the sizes, however it is necessary to watch that during joining between the next sheets the gap not less than 6-7 mm has been sustained. It is necessary for prevention of deformation of material.
  • As soon as the leaf is cut by the size, it is put to framework and leveled. If the upper edge hangs" in mid-air, it is necessary to add one more crossing point to design.
  • The next stage – fixing of plate of GVL on framework by means of the self-tapping screws intended for gipsovolokn. For reference: self-tapping screws 4 cm long are used to the standard plates having thickness of 12.5 mm. Screws twist with step of 30-40 cm. In places of joints of sheets of gipsovolokn the self-tapping screws are located in chessboard order – you should not forget about it.
  • At first one party of false-wall is sheathed, then in framework it is possible to put warm and sound insulation in the form of stone cotton wool then to sheathe GVL partition on the other hand. It is not recommended to leave space in framework empty as further the ready partition at contact with it will make the empty roaring phrase which is followed by echo and not pleasing hearing.

Step No. 3. Preparation for final finishing

Walls from GVL are not walls from HL therefore their finishing demands thorough training of surface. Structure of GVL such is that the porous plaster board can provoke non-uniform polymerization of paint and glue structure. Generally, that everything has turned out as it is necessary, it is better to work according to the following scheme.

  • Lacing (finish). If undercutting of sheets of gipsovolokn was not followed by removal of facet, all available seams are embroidered.
  • Strengthening of seams. After finish (lacing) the seams should be processed primer, and then – to glue with serpyanka.
  • Primer and hard putty. The surface is processed by soil for GVL. As soon as primer dries, it is necessary to putty design: at first places of fixture and joints of panels are processed to disguise hats of self-tapping screws, then material polymerizes. Only after that all surface of gipsovolokn becomes covered by thin layer of putty.
  • The dried putty weight is ground by means of grater with abrasive grid. In process a lot of dust is formed, it should be removed too. In total. the False-wall is prepared for finishing finishing. Now it is possible to make finishing finishing, i.e. pasting of wall-paper.
