Quite often used word of the French origin causes "drainage" in the average citizen of association, connected with the earth and everything that on it becomes. And it is right, but there are some more areas where this term is widely applied.
What is drainage and where he can be met?
Speaking to simple words, the drainage is removal of excessively collecting liquid from any site. As it has been already noted, this concept is wide it is applied in construction. When planning construction of any building special attention should be paid to drainage systems since our friend who is contained in the earth – water, can turn very quickly into the enemy, having destroyed by itself building basis – the base. Therefore in order to avoid such troubles it is necessary to think over as the drainage will be equipped, even before construction of the building.
Besides construction the term "drainage" is actively used in medicine. Its major task consists in ensuring continuous evacuation of liquid from wound or hollow body, natural outflow of contents from which is complicated as a result of trauma or disease.
But except such emergencies the drainage is used also for the purpose of correction of sites of skin, in particular for treatment of cellulitis. Such procedure carries the name lymphatic drainage.
Fans of houseplants know useful function of drainage firsthand. It helps to get rid quickly of excess water in pot with plant which remains after watering. In agriculture the drainage is just extremely necessary that the owner of farm has not lost the harvest. Especially the allotments located in lowlands as the water collecting in them does not allow plant to develop properly need laying of drainage and as a result will lead to his death.
How does the drainage become?
During the work with soil, whether it be in the field of construction or agriculture, for creation of drainage use so-called drains – pipes or other cavities with special openings on all surface through which water gets and it is taken away in the intended place. In room crop production it is important to remember that drainage material should not decay, damage roots or grow mouldy and also make any chemical processes. As drainage it is possible to use, for example, crushed stone, gravel, haydite or beaten brick. If in two above-stated areas the drainage can be made independently, without resorting to the help of experts, then in the field of medicine the drainage is established by the doctor. For performance of drainage tubes or catheters and also rubber or gauze strips are used. As the wise tsar Solomon once spoke: "There is nothing new under the sun". The drainage in medicine was used by her father - Hippocrates.
