Mealy dew belongs to the most dangerous diseases of gooseberry and currant. This mushroom disease affecting leaves, escapes and fruits of these plants. At first on affected areas there is whitish-gray raid, and then it darkens and turns into thin felt. Leaves most often dry up, and fruits crack and too gradually dry up. In the winter the infecting agent is located on the struck parts of plants in fruit bodies. Then in the spring they crack and sumkospor are thrown out of them, infecting leaves and escapes.
How to fight against mealy dew on currant and gooseberry
For a start it is necessary to choose correctly grades of gooseberry and currant, the most resistant to mealy dew. Also attentively check saplings for availability of various diseases.
For fight against mealy dew it is necessary to use medicines: biofungitsita, for example Fitosporin or Rapsol. They are completely safe for the person and insects, but have small validity period. Therefore apply chemical medicines, for example Topaz or the Acrobat. But they should be used only with observance of the instruction in dry windless weather. Before spraying remove the struck leaves and branches of bushes.
In the spring before emergence of leaves on currant and gooseberry, bushes and the soil around them are processed solution of nitrafen. On leaves it can leave burns.
The most effective folk remedies against mealy dew are infusion of bitter wormwood or baking soda. The bitter wormwood is filled in with boiled water and left under oppression for 3-4 days. Then add piece of laundry soap and spray bushes. Soda is also filled in with boiled water, given it will cool down and too add soap. Also make spraying or early in the morning, or in the evening.
Still very good impact on mealy dew is made by infusion of wood ashes and cow manure. Wood ashes are filled in with boiled water and left for 2 days. Add piece of soap and process the infected bushes. And cow manure is imposed in bucket and add boiled water. Leave for 5 days and again part with water 1 to 10. Then water plants on personal plot.
It is also possible to prepare infusions and solutions from tansy, mustard, copper vitriol, green needles and others.
Besides spraying of currant and gooseberry it is necessary to carry out scheduled maintenance on your kitchen garden. To make redigging of the soil around bushes in the spring, to pour over additives boiled water before blooming of kidneys. During the summer it is regular to loosen the earth under bushes, to delete the infected leaves and branches. In the fall completely to remove the infected fallen leaves and the dried berries from the site.
All these actions in complex will allow to reduce significantly the level of infection with various fungal diseases including mealy dew.
