The interline interval is the thin layer of wood with the beautiful drawing made by sawing of logs, hulling or planing. For production of interline interval usually use birch, alder, beech, oak, linden, ash-tree, larch, cedar. Cover with this material furniture and other home decoration.

The interline interval is used in production of cabinet furniture, furniture board, wall panels, doors. Thickness of natural interline interval does not exceed half-centimeter. The products covered with this layer of wood give illusion of natural wood. The manufacturing techniques of interline interval contain more than 4000 years. For the first time thought to saw tree on thin layers has arisen in Egypt where there are practically no woods. But the interiors executed from tree there very much were appreciated. Therefore have thought up way to cut interline interval from trunk span saw. It was succeeded to mechanize process only in the 19th century when there was the first hand-operated planing machine, and a bit later - the shelling machine.

By production of interline interval it is important to choose raw materials correctly. Logs have to be without ingrown bark, cracks, abundance of knots as these defects will affect beauty of pattern. At the sawing plant define by what way of log will be cut on sheets. At first logs cut on ranges, clean from bark, from foreign substances, then the preparations cut by belt saw steam or soak in hot water. Thanks to it, the tree becomes softer and easier is cut. The exception is made by light grades of wood, from similar processing they can lose color. Preparations spend certain time in water and only after that cut them on sheets. Then the interline interval is dried and distributed on grades.

The interline interval is hulled, sawn and planed. Hulled do of strong and soft breeds of tree, by means of the special shelling machine. The rotary cut veneer is considered cheap, more often it is used in veneering. The interline interval planed is made only from strong breeds of tree. It is the better material which is perfectly keeping texture of tree. This way of processing is applied to production of interline interval from decorative trees. Sawn veneer – the most valuable, it is done of coniferous breeds of tree. It is demanded in furniture production. On way of cut the interline interval is radial, semi-radial, tangential, tangential and edge. Each of them has the drawing on surface.
