Keramzitoblok and foam concrete block – modern construction materials which have number of advantages before brick. The first is made of haydite and cement, the second – of foam mortar, thanks to different structure they have various characteristics. It is necessary to choose any given material according to the purposes and requirements.
Pluses and minuses of keramzitoblok
Keramzitobloki is the large, easy and strong blocks made of frothed clay, known as haydite, cement and water. Ease of material is reached thanks to foamy structure of haydite, and the cover covering granules has high strength. Density of keramzitoblok can be various depending on way of production – from 400 to 1800 kilograms per cubic meter.
Important advantage of keramzitoblok in comparison with many modern construction materials – environmental friendliness and safety for health. The second main plus – high thermal insulation: it is optional to strengthen walls from these blocks in addition, houses can be built of them in frigid climate.
Keramzitobloki can be used both in low, and in multistorey housing: each block has special emptiness in which it is possible to carry out bracket frame. By the size the block from haydite is approximately four times larger than brick. The laying is conducted as well as brick, but due to ease and dimensions it is carried out easier and quicker. Keramzitoblok is well combined with various construction materials. It is easy to process him, and chemical and physical impacts on it are minimum. Shortcomings of keramzitoblok – porosity and relative fragility in comparison with concrete.
Pluses and minuses of foam concrete block
Foam concrete block is made of the frothed concrete having cellular structure thanks to which its properties are approximate to characteristics of keramzitoblok. It has excellent heat-insulating properties too – if to speak more precisely, higher, than at haydite, therefore, if your main objective – good warming of the house, then it is better to choose foam concrete block. Foam concrete blocks too lungs that facilitates their transportation and laying. The structure of material allows to verify easily it, to saw, hammer nails into its surface. But on mechanical strength it is not the best material. Foam concrete blocks almost do not avoid damp, unlike keramzitoblok which have the low level of vapor permeability. Concrete cellular blocks well pass steam, allowing houses "to breathe", forming healthy microclimate and producing outside hazardous substances. In the summer in such building it is cool, and in the winter due to good heat conductivity – heat. Foam concrete blocks are seldom used in multistorey housing, but among low constructions are high on the list among all materials. They are very durable and easily transfer cycles of freezing and defrosting, unlike haydite.
