The dark room can meet practically in each dwelling, be it the apartment, or owner-occupied dwelling. The lack of natural lighting can arise because of construction features of the building, availability under windows of high trees, locations of the room from North side of the house. This problem can be solved with the help of correctly picked up wall-paper which will make the room lighter and cozy.
Colors of wall-paper
Naturally, for dressing of walls in dark rooms it is necessary to use wall-paper in light tones. Best of all the soft pastel shades, the closest to white will approach: light-beige, gentle and cream, milky-white, vanilla, color of ivory. For creation of lungs, soft and at the same time not dull combinations pastel tone it is possible to combine among themselves or with one brighter shade (golden, yellow, lemon, light pink).
It is better to consider purely white color separately in each case. For example, in the room located from North side of the house, white walls can be perceived as gray. As a result the room will become even more uncomfortable. In this case, to compensate lack of daylight, the radiant light yellow shade will be the best option.
Besides, for dark rooms it is possible to use and cold tone which are capable to reflect a lot of light: light-pistachio, gentle-blue, light-turquoise, color of mint. It is not recommended to apply saturated shades of green, peach, orange, olive, terracotta colors in dark rooms. Walls in such tones will absorb a lot of light, and the room will always be cloudy. And light shades of sunlight, blue and lilac at shortcoming, will look gray and it is sad.
Drawings and ornaments
For decoration of the walls in dark rooms it is possible to use wall-paper of pastel tones with the drawing. The main thing that the pattern was medium-sized, and its color was not strongly contrast to the main tone of wall-paper. The room with contrast large elements of the drawing on walls visually will seem more darkly and less. And if the room rather spacious, then it is possible to allocate with bright ornament one of walls (best of all opposite to window).
Texture and relief
At registration of rooms with insufficient natural lighting it is necessary to pay attention also to texture of the drawing. It is the best of all to use glossy wall-paper which has ability to reflect light, respectively, and the room will seem more spacious and light. Wall-paper with deep frost coating will absorb sunshine. Will not be suitable for dark rooms as well wall-paper with silk-screen printing and metallography - they will darken walls. The drawing relief, depending on depth, is also capable to absorb or reflect daylight. Even the lightest wall-paper with large convex relief will visually reduce the room. And here wall-paper with small relief has the reflecting effect, can be respectively used in registration of dark rooms. Following certain rules and recommendations, even the most dark room can be turned into the light, bright and solar room.
