Still rather recently seasonal dachas were considered, mainly, as the place for cultivation of fruit and vegetable products. Now the increasing spaces at dachas are occupied by recreation areas, lawns and also flower beds. Beds with long-term will decorate any site with flowers. Such plants have the mass of advantages before one-year: them it is easier to grow up and look after them, they do not demand annual change, are unpretentious, blossom up to the first frosts, etc.
Variety of grades of plants-perennials is so high that it is possible to make at the request of the owner of the site beautiful beds in any weather conditions and at any type of the soil. At skillful selection of plants the gardener can receive long, since the beginning of spring to autumn frosts, the blossoming which is continuously replacing each other. For this purpose you need to pick up those flowers which grow at different times years.
When to plant perennials depends, first of all, on time of blossoming of plants. Those which blossom in the summer or in early autumn it is better to plant in the spring after the end of the period of spring frosts to minimize risk of damage of plants - for example, kotovnik, asters, anemony autumn, lavender. The same perennials which blossom in the spring or at the beginning of summer, for example poppies, peonies should be planted in the first half of fall. At observance of this rule the perennial plants will have enough time well to take roots, root on the constant place.
Preparation of future bed for perennials will demand both time, and efforts. First of all plan its contour, take sharp shovel and cut through the turf on this contour. Accurately remove it, dig over the earth, carefully remove roots of weeds. If the earth clay, heavy, surely add sand, humus and properly dig over on shovel bayonet depth, that is not less than on 30–35 cm. It is desirable to add mineral fertilizers also. Then loosen future bed with rake and create it. The place is ready for landing of perennials. Ideally the bed for spring landing needs to be prepared from last fall, and for autumn landing – at least for several weeks. In this case before landing the earth will manage to sink, and you will need only to remove the appeared weeds.
