The ammonia solution ("sal ammoniac", "nashatyrka") contains ammonia in popular speech - compound of nitrogen with hydrogen. In this form nitrogen can be well acquired by plants. Many gardeners prefer ammonia solution to dry fertilizers for several reasons:
- Universal availability: the 10 percent ammonia solution can be bought in any pharmacy. And at the ridiculous price.
- Convenience in application. It is easy to bring it and to easily count dosage. The last is very important not to "overfeed" plants with nitrates.
- The small volume of bottle allows to buy solution no more, than it is necessary. Even if there is task "to process" only one bed or bush.
What to apply to
Nitrogen is necessary for plants for development of chlorophyll by means of which the plant "catches" energy of sunlight. This substance also gives to foliage and escapes green color. If leaves in the middle of summer turn pale and turn yellow, the plant badly blossoms or gives weak ovary - all this signs of deficiency of nitrogen in the soil. In this case application of ammonia solution plays role of "ambulance".
Also the ammonia solution is used for planned fertilizing. It especially is useful if it is necessary to achieve the good growth of branches and foliage. Besides, it favorably affects blossoming and the size of fruits.
The ammonia solution can be used in truck farming practically for all plants. Do not need it unless bean which are capable to acquire atmospheric nitrogen. But most often solution of nashatyrka is done for the following cultures:
- onions and garlic
- cucumber
- tomato
- cabbage
In gardening the ammonia solution will help to raise fruit and berry cultures correctly: raspberry, blackberry, blueberry and others. Especially strawberry which badly acquires nitrogen needs such fertilizer.

How to apply
To make fertilizer, the ammonia solution is parted in water. Solution can be applied in two ways: for watering at the roots and extra root method. In the first case solution is filled in in watering can without sprayer and water plant. For extra root fertilizing it is abundant spray leaves.
Solution in such proportion will be suitable for watering of the majority of vegetable and fruit plants: 50 ml (3.3 tablespoons) of ammonia solution on 4 l of water. But the structure can be also another depending on specific objective.
So, for preventive fertilizing (it is carried out time in seven-ten days) take solution more weakly: nashatyrka tablespoon on 10 l of water. The same structure is recommended for the first fertilizing of cabbage which is made when planting seedling in soil (on 0.5 l of solution on hole). And in process of growth of cabbage use "stronger" solution.
To work with nashatyrka correctly after sunset or in the mornings in cloudy, but dry weather. At the same time the full calm is desirable.
