During fructification on cucumber plants sometimes there are many male colors. Instead of gathering young tasty cucumbers it is necessary to admire barren flowers. Time leaves, the harvest decreases.
Cucumbers are always tied on pistillate flowers after their pollination. It is biological feature of cucumber plants. Most of all female flowers grows not on the main stalk, and on side escapes. Basic reasons which promote formation of large number of barren flowers, the following:
- Crops by fresh seeds (harvest of last year). It is necessary to use seeds of grades not less than 2-3-year, warmed up before landing.
- Dense landing. Plants begin to press each other, to fight for the area of power supply and light. The main stalk where men's flowers are formed develops.
- Landing of cucumbers even in slightly shaded places - causes perturbation in plants. Cucumber - the big fan of light, the sun. Place plants so that they were lit from all directions.
- Sharp cold snap, having watered with cold water, t.e stress.
- Manual removal of male colors. Without these flowers, fruits on female flowers will not be tied.
For emergence of bigger amount of female colors it is necessary to do nipping of the main stalk over 4-5 leaf. After nipping the cucumbers stop growth and begin to grow side escapes on which the main harvest will be formed. Plants of cucumbers with short lashes in the open ground should not be prishchipyvat. They well branch and form many female flowers.
Short-term predrying of the soil under plants (short break of waterings) also causes stress which can be used for formation of ovaries - female flowers. If plants begin to podvyadat slightly, it is signal that they should be watered.
In warm weather it is the best of all to do watering in the evening, the water which is warmed up in the sun. Then to feed up, pour prime quality land. It will be good incentive for power supply of ovaries - cucumbers.
Frequent collecting young fruits forces plants to give more female flowers. And cucumbers overages intercept many nutrients, so necessary for young ovaries. Plants prematurely grow old.
