Quite often gardeners note that apple-trees stop the growth, and some fruit and berry trees perish at all. The reasons of such phenomenon can be much, beginning from climatic and finishing with the wrong care for landings.
Reasons of bad growth of apple-trees
The most common cause – improper soil weather conditions to which young trees cannot adapt. In areas where underground waters are located too close to earth surface to grow up the apple orchard it will not turn out if not to build bulk hills about 1.5 m high. In addition it is necessary to buy saplings on slaborosly or srednerosly stocks – their root system in smaller measure suffers from excess of moisture.
Sandy, supersandy and loamy soils are adverse for cultivation of apple-trees and other fruit-trees. They poor in the organic matters necessary for growth. In loamy areas the excessive amount of moisture which stands in top layers, and in sandy – scarcity of water is noted. Besides in low-snow and hard winters the root system of trees can die, without watching that the trunk has been warmed.
To grow up apple-trees on infertile soils, it is necessary to dig out holes of 1.5 meters in depth, on bottom to fill 15-20 cm of clay, and to fill up pole with peat or the chernozem. If you were going to plant at once after preparation of hole tree, then in few weeks to dosypta the earth as soil will accumulate on 10-15 cm.
Non-compliance with phytosanitary norms can also negatively affect growth of apple-trees. It is not recommended to plant young trees to that place where has died previous for any reason. Before landing of young plants, growing at row it is necessary to process from wreckers, to whitewash trunks to the first fork of branches. If the soil infertile, does not prevent to introduce small amount nonaggressive fertilizers.
The excessive amount of fertilizers can ruin young landings. If you have fertile soil, it is possible to refuse application of fertilizers.
How to choose saplings
The low-quality planting stock can sometimes serve as the reason of all failures. You should not buy the grades improper on climatic zone – they can be ill, not grow or at all freeze. It is the best of all to address to local nursery which is engaged in realization of saplings not the first year.
It is undesirable to buy saplings from private traders – they can sell grades of apple-trees which do not take root in the conditions of Siberia and the Urals.
When choosing young trees pay the person attention to root system – it has to be well developed. On roots or trunk of saplings there should not be damages, putrefactive spots. The tree is stronger, the quicker it will take root and will begin to fructify.
