As Feuerbach understood human nature

The philosophical concept of Ludwig Feuerbach significantly differs from Kant, Schelling or Hegel's classical reflections. He was sure that not reflection about abstract entities or theological researches have to be considered by true philosophers, and the existing manifestations of the nature and, certainly, the person. Feuerbach considered that the philosophy has to consider the person and his nature as ""the highest and universal subject"".

However, in the reflections and researches Feuerbach could not give accurate definition of human nature. Perhaps, the reason was that he did not consider reason as the main essence of each individual, including more important his biological component.

Anthropological philosophy

Denying reasonings of predecessors, Ludwig Feuerbach considered the real person as a cornerstone from which his thought has to make a start. For example, he was sure that the main instrument of knowledge of the world around are not thoughts, but feelings. He considered ability to see, perceive and feel an irresponsible, but rational step of knowledge. He was sure what any conscious feelings do the person richer, uplifting to a deep spiritual state. Having come to such conclusions, he called the philosophy the ""anthropological"", considering the personality in time, space and everyday life.

Putting a concept of ""person"" in the center of the philosophy as the main component of the biological world capable the mind to realize both simple, and difficult concepts. For the first time having so glorified the individual, Feuerbach assumed that not God created the person, and the religion is exclusively human factor and depends on the ideas and dreams of specific group of individuals.

Contradictions in Feuerbach's theory

Only the human mind is capable to see beauty of a form, the movement or color scale which are the cornerstone of art. The ability to admire the abstract works which often do not have other value except esthetic, is inherent only in people.

In the work ""Essence of Christianity"" the thinker argued on signs of truly human beginning and the reasons of their emergence. But Feuerbach did not manage to develop the thought: having recognized a leading role of the person, he could not explain as well as why there were feelings and the thoughts inherent only to people from where there was a consciousness and aspiration to create.

Instead of search of the reasons, Feuerbach sends the reader to a concept of ""patrimonial essence"", the special invariable characteristics put in people by the nature. As animals, birds and plants are allocated with the special characteristics inherent only it, and the person has memory of generations, the ""patrimonial essence"".

It only reveals in interaction of people with each other, than communication level is higher, that people are happier. Everyone has an opportunity or to follow on the way intended to it by the nature or to refuse the ""patrimonial essence"", being limited only to physiological requirements.
