Calculation of mass of a pipe is required when determining the total weight of the mounted gas pipelines or water supply systems. It is necessary to count the total weight of pipes and for the organization of their transportation. For calculations use help data of rated mass of pipes.

- — table of theoretical scales and GOST of steel pipes;
- — GOST 18599-2001 "Pipes pressure head of polyethylene".

## Instruction

1. Find information on a pipe which **mass** it is necessary to calculate in cards of warehouse account, consignment notes or the certificate. Pipes can be electrowelded and seamless, round, water pipeline, or profile. Define pipe type. Specify its outer diameter and thickness of a wall in mm. Measure length of one pipe in meters and count quantity of pipes in the order.

2. Find type and rated weight of one running meter of a pipe of the necessary diameter and thickness of a wall in the reference book of theoretical scales of steel pipes of the corresponding state standard specification. Having increased the size of mass of running meter by pipe length, receive the weight of one pipe in kilograms. Calculate the total weight of the order, having multiplied the weight of 1 pipe on their quantity in the order.

3. Calculate in the similar way the weight of a polyethylene pipe, knowing its type, diameter, thickness of a wall and length. Use help data of state standard specification on polyethylene pipes for calculations. For determination of the weight of one running meter of a polyethylene pipe in the reference book you should calculate SDR or the standard dimensional relation.

4. Divide the size of diameter of a polyethylene pipe into thickness of its wall. So you will find SDR in mm. Knowing the standard dimensional relation, find the rated mass of running meter of a pipe of the necessary diameter according to help data of state standard specification. Further calculate the weight of the necessary piece of a pipe or all bay, having increased the mass of running meter of a pipe by its length.
