How to disassemble the torpedo

The torpedo is the central part of an interior of each car. On it the driver's look most often falls. But over time the surface of the torpedo begins to spoil and lose the attractive look. In that case it is necessary to replace folding details, or to completely replace the torpedo with new.

It is required to you

  • - set of screw-drivers;
  • - set of wrenches;
  • - cotton gloves;
  • - operation manual on the car.

Instruction

1. Drive the car into a garage. Surely cut off power an onboard power supply system as you should remove various electronics located on the torpedo. Open a cowl and remove the minus terminal from the accumulator. Turn on the parking brake and turn the transmission lever to neutral position.

2. Open at most both doors. Dismantle slips on the torpedo. Take out decorative rings and a framework of air ducts. Also dismantle climate control switches. Take out the case of an ashtray from the socket if it is located in the torpedo.

3. Find all self-tapping screws fixing the torpedo to a car body, accurately unscrew them. It is also necessary to remove self-tapping screws which hold a tunnel and facing of a casing of the transmission. Remove a tunnel.

4. Disconnect understeering switches. Dismantle a casing of a steering column, having turned off all bolts. Remove a plastic overlay of the central part of a wheel. If in your car there is a safety cushion of the driver, then take out it. Find a nut which fixes a wheel. Take out a hairpin and turn off a nut. Accurately remove a wheel from a shaft.

5. Undertake hands side parts of the torpedo and pull it a little on yourself. Do not pull strongly not to break conducting. Disconnect all blocks of wires from the back, previously having marked them. Marking will allow not to mix at the return assembly by places of connection. Also accurately disconnect hoses of air ducts.

6. Dismantle a glovebox. For this purpose at first turn off bolts of fastenings of a cover of a glovebox. Remove it. Then find the self-tapping screws holding the case. Some of them can be located at the bottom of a glovebox. Having unscrewed all bolts, pull the case on yourself and accurately take out it.

7. Remove the torpedo completely, having made sure that all wires from the back are disconnected. For completion of full dismantling remove the control panel from the torpedo. You make assembly upside-down.
