What is the comparison in literature

Decoration of poetic and prosaic diction are graphic means of expression. One of the simplest from the point of view of structure is such tracks as comparison.

Is called comparison tracks at which in the text there are the basis a comparison and an image of comparison, the sign sometimes can be specified. So, in an example "A God's name as a big bird" (O.E. Mandelstam) the God's name (comparison basis) is compared to a bird (image of comparison). The sign on which there is a comparison is a krylatost.

Literary critics allocate several types of comparisons.

Types of comparisons

1. The comparison expressed through the comparative unions as as though as if, precisely, it seems and others.

For example B.L. Pasternak uses the following comparison in the poem: "The kiss was as summer".

2. The comparison expressed by means of adjectives in comparative degree. It is possible to add a word to such turns it seems, sees, it is similar also others.

For example: "Girlish faces are brighter than roses" (A.S. Pushkin).

3. Comparison for which the instrumental case is used. For example: "A wounded animal the frost tears up" (N.N. Aseev).

4. The comparison expressed by an accusative case without pretext. For example: "The living room was trimmed expensive, under red gold, by wall-paper".

5. The comparison expressed by a descriptive conjunctionless locution. For example: "Nightmares of night are so far that a dusty predator in the full glare of the sun - the rascal more than nothing" (I.F. Annensky).

6. Also there are negative comparisons. For example: "Red does not shine in the sky sun, cloudlets blue do not admire it: that sits at table in a golden wreath, the terrible tsar Ivan Vasilyevich" sits (M.Yu. Lermontov).
