The city is located on 14 islands which are washed by the Baltic Sea. It is not small space of sushi which is divided among themselves by water. On the one side of it washes the lake Melaren, and with another the Baltic Sea. At the same time to the sea the city has absolutely small exit. But islands create excellent smooth water which various ships and yachts very much like to visit.
Short history of Stockholm
At first the small fishing small village was in the place of the city. But in 1187 the local governors noticed very favorable location of these places and began to create the powerful and strengthened settlement. The first mention of Stockholm belongs to 1252 when the real city in these parts began to appear. The possibility of a message by sea led trade relations with other countries to the fact that the city every day became more and more and more richly. And in 1634 it was proclaimed the capital of Sweden.
From this point Stockholm began to develop in various directions. Now in the city the set of the museums, restaurants, theaters is created. Annually in Stockholm there take place various fairs and sports competitions.
Certainly, the proximity of the sea and an opportunity to carry out trade on a sea way positively affected development of Stockholm.
The modern city is divided into two parts: Old city and New city. An old part of Stockholm consists of a set of the museums and beautiful streets with original design solutions of five hundred-summer prescription. And New year develops as the business center. Here regularly there take place various conferences, symposiums, concerts of modern music bands and other large-scale actions.
Tourists like to visit Stockholm. The proximity of the sea sates air with freshness and gives a set of positive emotions. In the summer all city is buried in verdure, and is covered with snow and ice in the winter.
