Atlantis is the legendary country sung by Platon, excites minds of historians and inhabitants already more than two and a half thousand years. Death of Atlantis generated fear at various people of the uncontrollable force of elements and became the base for a set of the separate stories which reached the present in the form of myths, legends and legends.
Datings
The researchers confident in authenticity of data of dialogues of Platon consider that death of the island happened during the period from 9593 to 9583 BC. For this date specify some data in dialogues "Timy" and Krity. Krity is the statesman living in the second half of the 5th century BC, told to Platon history read to them in records of the grandfather, Solon which he kept from the words of the Egyptian priest in 593-583 BC. According to Kritiya Atlantis died exactly in 9000 years prior to these records, thus, it turns out that from the moment of death of the island there passed about 11560 years. The author had Atlantis directly behind Herculean or Herculean columns, i.e. in the Atlantic Ocean behind the rocks framing an entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar. And though some also place Atlantis in the Black Sea, in the Andes and even in the Caribbean Sea, these are the most exact coordinates and dates, available historians.
Death of the legendary state
According to works by Platon, Atlantis belonged to the master of the Seas Poseydonu, he gave it to management to the sons from the mortal woman. The state grew and prospered, it was impossible richly, had a great influence on neighboring states and did brisk business them. But over time inhabitants "became corrupted" and ancient gods decided to punish them. The description of death of Atlantis at Platon comes down to two major factors – an earthquake and the followed tsunami. In the beginning began to shake the earth, cracks in the soil appeared, in several hours many people died, and then the flood which shipped the island on a bottom began.
Sceptics claim that Solon mixed the Egyptian hieroglyphs designating hundreds and thousands and instead of 900 wrote down 9000 years.
Versions of death of Atlantis
The eruption of an underwater volcano which generated an earthquake and a tsunami is considered one of the main versions of death of Atlantis. The version about death of the continent as a result of shift of tectonic plates is not less popular. By the way, in this version Atlantis is called an antipode of Great Britain, i.e. on one scale Atlantis, on another – synchronously rose England sank. As the reason of this shift, according to various researchers, falling of a large asteroid near the Bermuda Triangle or at coast of Japan, capture of the present satellite by Earth – the Moon, change of geographical poles as a result of periodic "castling" could serve. Point words from ancient texts to it that "The earth was once again updated" or "regenerated", i.e. the ancient people had knowledge that such processes are natural and periodical.
In different parts of the world the picture of a cataclysm could differ significantly. In some places, pieces of the falling space body and a consequence of destruction, in others – only a roar and huge waves could be visible.
In myths and legends of the different people there are added versions of death of the civilizations existing to the first Egyptian Pharaohs. So, for example, in the book "Chilam-Balam" the falling of some celestial body, the followed earthquake and a flood is described: "there was a rain of fire", "from the sky the great dragon broke", "and fell to the ground of his bone and skin", "and then awful waves gushed". In other legends it is said that "the sky fell" and for a short time several times day was replaced at night. Modern researchers of a problem of Atlantis claim that such accident can repeat. Thawing of glaciers in the last decades occur more and more intensively, it can lead to desalting of waters of the World Ocean, disappearance of the warm Gulf Stream Current and a raising of water level on several dozen meters. Thereof the most part of coastal areas will be flooded, and many lands will repeat a fate of legendary Atlantis.
