Acids are the substances consisting of atoms of hydrogen and the acid rest. For human life they are necessary chemical compounds. Acids are applied in many areas: to medicine, the industry and in life. With food of people receives animal and vegetable proteins which are split on amino acids. Thanks to them in an organism there is a construction of living tissues and proteinaceous structures.
Types of acids
Distinguish two types of acids: organic and inorganic, differences between them that the first always contain carbon molecules.
Organic acids come to an organism with berries, vegetables, fruit and dairy products. Some acids are vitamins as, for example, vitamin C – ascorbic acid.
Inorganic acids can arrive with food too, but can be produced by an organism independently. Hydrochloric acid is present at gastric juice, under its action the bacteria getting into a stomach with food perish. Hydrosulphuric acid contains in mineral water.
Use of acids
Sulfuric acid wins first place among acids. It in large numbers is applied to production of fertilizers, chemical fibers, plastic, drugs. Fill with it acid accumulators, use for extraction of metals from ore. In oil industry it is applied to purification of oil products. Acetic acid possesses bactericidal action, its solution is applied at conservation of food, to receiving drugs, by production of acetone, in coloring and publishing. Hydrochloric acid is used for processing of zones of wells in oil industry. Nitric acid plays a large role by production of fertilizers, varnishes, dyes, plastic, explosive and medicinal substances. Phosphoric acid is a part of the degreasing structures for metal materials before drawing on them protective structures. Is included substances for transformation of rust before putting paint, and it is applied as protection against corrosion of pipelines. Citric acid is applied during creation of cosmetics, as thinner and preservative. Thanks to the properties to bleach, clean and the knitting action, it is a part of cleansing creams, conditioners for hair, creams from pigmentation, hair-dyes. Acetilsalicylic acid is effective at prevention of diseases of a cardiovascular system, reduces formation of blood clots, has analgeziruyushchy effect therefore it is strongly applied in medicine. Boric acid is also applied in medicine because of the antiseptic property. It is applied at a pediculosis (pediculosis), at treatment of otitises, conjunctivitis, inflammations of integuments. Stearin acid is used in soap manufacture. Addition it in soap guarantees that the product will do skin smooth, soft and to have the calming effect.
