As Earth increases in volumes

As Earth increases in volumes

Long ago it is known that volumes of our planet - size changeable. And here is how they change and as it is reflected in life of all inhabitants of Earth, knows not everyone.

Long ago it is known that Earth not ideally spherical. As a result of the last Ice Age which came to the end about 11,000 years ago the equator appeared at bigger distance from a kernel, than a pole. Today planet volumes change again.

As Earth volumes changed earlier

The long Ice Age which ended eleven thousand years ago and lasting on representations of scientists, about 2.5 million years considerably deformed the planet: the huge mass of ice collecting for centuries at some point exceeded the critical level why earth crust and a cloak, actually, were flattened, having forced out "superfluous" in the area of the equator. Thus it turned out that the Earth's surface on the North Pole is about 20 km closer to a kernel, than the surface which is on planet "belt".

After Ice Age the gradual return to the correct spherical shape which is annually reducing thickness of the equatorial camber approximately by one millimeter was started over again. But at the moment this process stopped and even addressed back.

As planet volumes increase today

Scientists from the American university located in the State of Colorado, being based on the data of a system of the GRACE satellites, claim that Earth volume in the equatorial belt increases again. It is caused by the fact that global warming promotes active thawing of ices of Northern and Southern poles: about 382 billion tons of ice a year turn into water. All "surplus" due to natural natural processes is pulled together to the equator, provoking "growth" of the planet in the field.

What consequences of the happening changes

The distance from a kernel to a surface increasing because of inflow of water from poles changes approximately on 7 millimeters a decade. In global scales it, apparently, is not a lot of, but geophysics and meteorologists claim that living conditions become less favorable: changes in climate provoke natural disasters and changes of an ecosystem. Scientists predict offensive of the sea at some countries in the next century: under water there can be northern islands, Scotland, a part of Iceland. The Netherlands and Denmark will suffer from floods. From South side the thawing of ices threatens the island states of the Indian and Quiet oceans. Significant climate changes will happen also in those regions to which flooding and floods do not threaten.
