As to determine acceleration by the schedule of speed

Knowledge Base Hits: 84

Acceleration of a body is the size received by differentiation of size of speed. Such interrelation of these parameters of the movement allows to find one of them, having information on another, with use of laws of the mathematical analysis.

It is required to you

Instruction

1. Draw the available schedule of speed of a body. This schedule represents dependence of speed of a body on time of its movement.

2. Remember communication of acceleration of a body and speed. It is known that acceleration of a body is the relation of a difference of speeds of a body in final and initial timepoints to a period between these moments. In a limit case when the period tends to zero, the relation of two differences passes into derivative functions of speed from time. Thus, acceleration of a body can always be found, having defined a derivative of function of time.

3. Remember what geometrical point of derivative function. It is known that this size sets a tangent tilt angle to the schedule of a curve which derivative of function is. Knowing a derivative, you can define what the tangent inclination tangent of angle is equal to. As acceleration of a body equally derivative of its speed, knowing what the speed derivative is equal, it is possible to find also acceleration.

4. Look at the schedule of speed. If it is a straight line of lines, then the movement of a body uniformly accelerated, that is acceleration has constant value. In this situation there are two possible cases. The first case corresponds to horizontal arrangement of a straight line on the coordinate plane that means the zero size of acceleration because the tangent of angle of an inclination is equal to zero.

5. The second case corresponds to any inclination of a straight line. To define a tangent of angle of an inclination of such straight line, use a ruler, having measured lengths of legs of a rectangular triangle which hypotenuse is the straight line. The relation opposite to the studied leg corner to adjacent will give you value of a tangent which is equal to acceleration of a body.

6. Also you can measure a tilt angle of a straight line, using a protractor. Having defined a tilt angle, find the size of the corresponding tangent according to Bradis's table.
