Trotsky's saying together with his profile was printed on covers of student notebooks constantly to remind school students of need persistently to seize knowledge.

Those years, difficult for the country, certainly, nobody urged young workers to go without exception to higher education institutions and to get higher education. In the country where at the time of the royal mode a considerable part of the population was illiterate, the concept "grind away at the studies" meant first of all mastering the most elementary knowledge without which creation of new society was impossible. The "granite" aphorism found the reflection in the song by the author, popular those years, S. Tretyakov Young Guard, having turned into lines: "Persistent study we swot away sciences". These words could be met also in incendiary national chastushkas. The youth actively picked up an appeal of the party leader.
