The serviceability of the brake system is a basis of safety of the driver and surrounding people. Behind it it is important to watch and support constantly in good repair. For this purpose it is worth understanding as it is correct to pump over usual and pneumatichydraulic brakes. This work is not difficult and, following the instruction, it is possible to cope with it easily.
When and why to pump over brakes?
The thing is that brake fluid has hygroscopicity, that is ability to absorb steam from air. As a result the system accumulates air and in hot the weather liquid easily begins to boil, and brakes can simply refuse. From here it is possible to draw the conclusion concerning that why pumping of a brake is necessary, it is guarantee of safety.
There are several reasons because of which it is worth carrying out pumping of brakes. First of all it is long work without survey and repair. It is possible to refer misoperation, depressurization of the mechanism and insufficient amount of brake fluid to common causes.
Still it is worth understanding when it is necessary to carry out pumping of a brake. According to rules to do everything 1-2 times a year are necessary or after the car passed 50-60 thousand km. It is important to carry out the procedure in case the driver makes replacement of brake fluid. There are several symptoms which indicate the need of pumping of brakes:
- the pedal became too soft and often springs;
- the working course of a pedal of a brake increased;
- brake pedal failures;
- increase in a brake way.
How it is correct to pump over brakes?
If the brake contour has the standard scheme, then works should be carried out in such sequence: at first the right and left back wheel, and then, in the same order work also with front wheels. If a contour diagonal, then it is necessary to begin work with the right back and pass to the left front wheel, and then, one more diagonal is considered.
Scheme of performance of work:
- Buck should fill with brake fluid to the maximum level, and then, the wheel is turned off and removed.
- The union is cleaned from dirt, and then, from it the protective cap is removed. Put on him a tube which can be made of kapron or plastic.
- Lower free edge of a tube in bank in which it is necessary to pour a little brake fluid.
- It is necessary to carry out 3-4 vigorous pressing of a pedal, observing an interval between them of one second. Then clamp and hold a pedal.
- Turn the final union on a half of a turn. When liquid does not arrive from a tube, return the union to initial situation and lower a pedal.
- Add brake fluid and repeat the procedure. It will be necessary only to pick up the phone and to close a cap.
How it is correct to pump over brakes with ABS?
It is the best of all to carry out works together that considerably will facilitate a task. Ignition should be put in zero position, and then, separate all sockets from a tank. For pumping of a front wheel take a hose, put on it the union and turn on one turn. The assistant has to squeeze out completely a brake and keep it in such situation. After there are all bubbles, return the union to initial situation and lower a pedal.
It is possible to pass to back wheels and it is necessary to begin on the right side. After fixing of a hose on the union it is necessary to turn off it on one turn. Squeeze out a brake pedal against the stop, and put ignition in the second position. When there are bubbles, return the union to a starting position and release a pedal. For the left wheel also fix a hose on the union and turn it, but here you should not squeeze out a pedal. When the pump banishes air, squeeze out a pedal to a half, and then, fix the union. Lower a pedal and wait until the pump stops. It will be necessary only to switch off ignition, to return into place sockets and to check a system for tightness.
