For many consumers of current the stabilized power supplies are required. The main detail of the schemes giving stable tension at the exit is the semiconductor stabilitron. This element provides the identical size of output voltage independent of size with the consumed current loading. It is possible to check serviceability and normal work of this detail in several ways.

- The laboratory autotransformer (LATR), the resistor 10 kOhm, the rectifier on voltage of 120 Volts, a multimeter.
Instruction
1. Include a multimeter in the mode of check of diodes. For this purpose turn the device handle to that situation which is shown in the drawing. Concern stabilitron conclusions multimeter probes. Then trade places probes and again concern them stabilitron conclusions. The multimeter has to show resistance of a stabilitron of 300 - 600 Ohms in one of provisions, figure 1 in the extreme left register has to be in other family way on the display (that means that the measured resistance of the device is infinitely high for this measurement range of a multimeter). In this case the stabilitron is serviceable.
2. The stabilitron is faulty if the multimeter in both cases of measurements shows the infinite resistance (internal break), very low resistance (breakdown) or resistance about 30 - 500 Ohms (semi-breakdown).
3. For check of operability of a stabilitron collect such scheme: connect a network fork of the rectifier on 120 Volts to the laboratory autotransformer. Put the regulator of the laboratory autotransformer in the position corresponding to the minimum tension at its exit. To output contacts of the rectifier consistently with the resistor on 10 kOhm connect a stabilitron (the cathode to a positive conclusion of the rectifier), parallel to a stabilitron connect the multimeter included in the mode of measurement of constant tension in the range of 200 Volts.
4. Turn on the laboratory autotransformer. Turning the handle of adjustment of output voltage of the autotransformer, smoothly increase tension on a stabilitron. At the same time you monitor indications of size of tension on the multimeter display. Tension has to reach a certain size and cease to increase. This size will also be tension of stabilization of a stabilitron. If it less than 20 Volts, switch a multimeter to the provision of measurement of constant tension in the range of 20 Volts.
