The name of this organization - W3C (The World Wide Web Consortium), the website - w3.org. How to check compliance of the source code of pages of the website to the international W3C standards (that is their validity) - it is described below.
Instruction
1. At first it is necessary to decide on the instrument of check of validity. There is some programs for validation HTML code and considerable number of the resources in network offering this service. There is such service and on the website of the consortium developing standards therefore it does not make sense to use third-party validators - better to use services of the primary source. Operation of validation of web pages on the website of W3C is free, takes several seconds of time and happens in the automatic mode. The address of this service is validator.w3.org.
2. Having decided on the instrument of check, choose a way of validation: - if you have to check compliance to standards of the page which is posted online, then it is necessary to do it on the Validate by URI tab of the interface of the validator; - if the checked page is not posted online yet, and is in your computer, then go to the Validate by File Upload tab of the interface of the validator; - and if you want to check validity of a part of the code to an insert it in initial HTML code of the page, then use the Validate by Direct Input tab.
3. In any of the options chosen on the previous step you can click the link ""More Options"" and specify additional parameters of the procedure of validation.
4. You have to give by the following step to the validator the checked HTML code. Depending on that which of tabs was chosen it can be made one of such ways: - if the Validate by URI tab was chosen, then enter the full address of the web page into the Address field and press the Check button; - if you chose the Validate by File Upload tab, then press the Review... button, choose the necessary file and press the Check button.- and if the Validate by Direct Input tab was your choice, then insert the copied lines of the code into the entry field (or print them right here) and press the Check button.
5. As a result of verification of the code you receive or the message about existence in the source code of discrepancies with the standard, or a congratulation on successful passing of the procedure of validation. In the first case the quantity of the mistakes found the validator will be specified and descriptions of each of them are provided. In the second case on the page with results the button certificate about passing of validation which you rightfully can place on the checked page of the website will be offered you.
