In everyday life we constantly face electric devices which work from alternating current. In a modern household electrical wiring there are three wires which conditionally are called "phase", "zero" and "grounding". Therefore at installation of electric devices it is necessary to be able to distinguish "phase" from "zero".
Instruction
1. First, if wires are correctly marked, then to distinguish "phase" from "zero" big will be not difficult. The phase wire has to be black-brown color, "zero" blue, and a wire of grounding flavovirent. As a rule, at one-color conducting the ends of wires are supplied with special insulating tubules – kembrika which have the corresponding coloring.
2. In case conducting is not marked, then to help to understand the voltmeter which is adjusted on the corresponding tension will help. At measurement of tension between a "zero" wire with a wire of grounding of the shooter of the device will remain motionless. And here at the corresponding measurement between a phase wire and "zero" and also at measurement of tension between a phase wire and a wire of grounding, the device will show potential difference. At the same time, the big difference will be at measurement with a grounding wire.
3. If in the house there is no voltmeter, it is possible to distinguish a phase wire by means of the ordinary indicator screw-driver. At contact with a phase wire the bulb of the indicator will light up. At contact with other wires, the bulb will not burn. But the lack of a technique of use of the indicator screw-driver that with its help it is impossible to define what wire is grounding and what "zero".
4. Exists as well a method of definition of a phase wire without special devices. But this method differs in the increased danger, and it is possible to use it only in the most extreme cases. For this purpose, previously cut off power wires need to be inserted into a fresh cut of potato at some distance from each other, without allowing a possibility of short circuit. Then, on an insignificant period – one-two seconds, on wires tension moves. The site of potato near a phase wire will turn blue.
