The literary genre is a class of the texts having similar structure, the contents, a variability limit. There is a set of genres of the text, and you need to know their characteristics if you do not want to make the wrong choice of type.

Think, it amuses you or upsets, gives feelings of the author to his heroes or just tells about any events, the main character fights against insuperable circumstances or with himself? 2. Distinguish three ways of classification of literary genres. They are grouped in a form therefore allocate such types as the play, the story, the novel, an essay, the story, the ode. The play is the creation of the writer intended for execution from a scene, the story – the small narrative work in prose. The novel, as a rule, distinguishes its scale from the story. He narrates about life and personal development of the main character during the period, crisis for it. An essay – a kind of the story, characterized by lack of the uniform conflict. The story – the prosaic genre which is on volume between the novel and the story, narrating about vital peripetias of the main character.
3. If you want to define a genre of the text on its contents, it is necessary to know the following classification. All texts can be subdivided into three categories: comedy, tragedy and drama. Comic or satirical approach is characteristic of the comedy. The tragedy is based on development of the event having, as a rule, inevitable character, and leading to unpleasant consequences. The drama plot, as a rule, is constructed on the description of human life, its relationship and the conflict with society.
