1. The azimuth is the corner counted clockwise from one of parts of the world or other previously chosen direction. To define a magnetic azimuth of an object, use a compass. The compass is put on a horizontal plain surface and turned so that the arrow showed on zero on a scale. Then the vizirny scale of a compass is rotated until through tselik and a front sight subject to orientation does not become visible. Then the front sight will show an object azimuth on a scale.
2. To find a way back, quite often use a concept of the return azimuth. It exactly by 180 degrees differs from direct. So, if the direct azimuth is more than 180 degrees, then for receiving the return azimuth subtract 180 degrees from it. If the direct azimuth is less than 180 degrees, then the return azimuth turns out addition of 180 degrees.
3. That on areas to decide on the direction, a preset value of an azimuth, arrive as follows. Expose a front sight on a vising scale value of an azimuth. Then release a magnetic needle and turn a compass so that the arrow indicated zero. Now, without touching a compass, look through a front sight and tselik, noticing some remote object. Orientation on this object is also the required direction.
