How to define the direction of induction

Induction arises in the conductor when crossing power lines of the field if to move it in magnetic field. Induction is characterized by the direction which can be determined by the established rules.

It is required to you

  • - conductor with current in magnetic field;
  • - gimlet or screw;
  • - solenoid with current in magnetic field;

Instruction

1. To learn the direction of induction, it is necessary to use one of two rules: rule of the gimlet or rule of the right hand. The first is used generally for a direct line in which current flows. The rule of the right hand is applied to the coil or the solenoid fed by current.

2. The rule of the gimlet says: If the direction of the gimlet or screw, moving progressively, the same as current in a wire, then turn of the handle of the gimlet shows the direction of induction.

3. To recognize the direction of induction by the rule of the gimlet, define polarity of a wire. Current always flows from a positive pole to negative. Arrange the gimlet or the screw along a wire with current: the nose of the gimlet has to look at a negative pole, and the handle towards positive. Begin to rotate the gimlet or the screw kind of twisting it, that is clockwise. The arising induction has an appearance of the closed circles around the wire fed by current. The direction of induction will coincide with the direction of rotation of the handle of the gimlet or a hat of the screw.

4. The rule of the right hand says: If to take the coil or the solenoid in a palm of the right hand that four fingers lay in the direction of a current of current in rounds, then the thumb which is set aside sideways will specify the direction of induction.

5. To define the direction of induction, using the rule of the right hand, it is necessary to take the solenoid or the coil with current so that the palm lay on a positive pole, and four fingers of a hand in the direction of current in rounds: the little finger is closer to plus, and a forefinger to minus. Set aside a thumb sideways (kind of showing gesture "class"). The direction of a thumb will indicate the direction of induction.
