How to determine bulb power

At the electric glow lamp can be absent, or be erased marking. In addition, such lamp can eat the high-frequency tension which does not give in to measurement by widespread devices. In both cases its power can be determined in the indirect way.

It is required to you

  • - reference bulb;
  • - adjustable source of constant tension;
  • - ampermeter;
  • - voltmeter;
  • - optical or other pyrometer.

Instruction

1. If the bulb has no marking, in the beginning take another, with the known parameters, but close type. For example, if the unknown lamp is krypton or halogen, then reference there has to be the same. Include a reference lamp, having given on it rated voltage. Take temperature to its thread, using a pyrometer.

2. Connect a test bulb to a DC power source via the ampermeter, and parallel to it attach the voltmeter. At connection of both devices observe polarity. Direct a pyrometer to lamp thread, and then smoothly increase power supply tension from zero until temperature of thread does not become the same, as well as in the previous case. If there is no pyrometer, it is possible to achieve that colors of filaments of both bulbs were approximately identical.

3. Read indications of the ampermeter and the voltmeter, and then disconnect both bulbs. Transfer current and tension to SI units (respectively, amperes and volts), and then increase them at each other. The power expressed in watts will turn out.

4. In case the bulb eats high-frequency tension, for determination of power, in the beginning take a pyrometer temperature it to thread, then switch-off the converter, disconnect from it a lamp, power in the way stated above and achieve heating of its thread to the same temperature. Measure its power in the same way, as in the previous case. Establish a lamp into place.

5. Sometimes there is a need to adjust the high-frequency converter so that the operating value of tension on fed from it bulbs became equally equal nominal. For this purpose at first power it from an adjustable source, measuring its tension by the voltmeter (it is optional to control current the ampermeter), achieve that this tension became equal nominal, and then take temperature to thread a pyrometer.

6. After that disconnect a source of constant tension, disconnect a lamp from a measuring chain and connect it to the converter. Its adjustment achieve that temperature of thread became the same.
