Knowledge of height of own location is useful at orientation in the mountain area at insufficient visibility. Price of the correct determination of height can be very high if there is the only safe route of descent from the mountain. The altitude indicator is above sea level used to measurement of height. The principle of its action is simple – with height atmospheric pressure decreases, and the device fixes its change.

Instruction
1. Prepare the altitude indicator. For an example we will consider the multipurpose Minox WindWatch pro device having function of measurement of height above sea level. Take pressure at sea level changing depending on weather conditions in the range from 950 to 1050 millibars for a reference point.
2. Carry out calibration of the sensor of pressure, using the button with designation of the arrow directed up to control panels. It is required to do it every time before carrying out measurements. In particular calibration is necessary at rapid change of weather when atmospheric pressure changes up to 5 millibars a day and change of height can reach several dozen meters.
3. Establish height above sea level. Within three seconds hold the Set button which transfers the device to the mode of installations. These heights and pressure on the screen of the device will begin to blink, showing the current atmospheric pressure calculated concerning sea level. Use the Set button for reduction of value, and the button with the arrow directed up - for increase. The buttons should be pressed multiply to change value with a step to 1 m or to hold long (for rapid change at a considerable size).
4. Pass into the main menu of the altitude indicator. It will show the current height above sea level, the air temperature and time. Height is measured with an accuracy of 1 m. Measurement of height is performed automatically at an interval of 10 seconds. If at the movement the change of height happens quicker than 1 meter per second, the interval of change will change towards more frequent measurement.
5. If you need to change height unit of measure (feet or meters), briefly press the button with the image of the arrow directed up.
6. To keep the made installations, press at the same time the Set buttons and the button with an arrow, holding them several seconds. At the same time the display will pass into the mode of the main menu, having kept installations.
