1. Define origin of pitch. It will help to find also solvent for it because for pine or fir-tree pitch solvent will be one, and for synthetic — another. There are substances which successfully dissolve both.
2. In water pitch is not dissolved, you should not even try. Therefore if you need to dissolve vegetable pitch to remove a spot from clothes, take a little gasoline and an unnecessary toothbrush. Moisten a brush in gasoline and wipe a spot. If pitch fresh, it occurs quite easily. However, it is necessary to know of what fabric the clothes are made and whether solvent is suitable for it. If there is no label on which it is written whether it is possible to hand over a thing in a dry-cleaner, cut off a fabric piece from that place where it will be imperceptible, and drip several drops of solvent.
3. Old spots can be removed from pitch if to mix 1 teaspoon of starch with several drops of turpentine and liquid ammonia. Apply mix on a spot and wait until dries. Clean off mix together with pitch a brush.
4. But it can be necessary to dissolve pitch and for some other purpose. For example, you organize a celebration and would like to make lighting torches. For this purpose vegetable pitch, that is crude turpentine, it terebenthene, and in enough is necessary. It can be dissolved partially in alcohol, but it is the best of all in gasoline. It is the best of all to apply unleaded gasoline of the Galosh brand which is on sale in household shops. It is necessary to dissolve pitch to the necessary consistence. For a torch solution has to be dense. It is possible to impregnate with the received solution cotton rags, and to fill with it a torch. Such solution can be packed also into an empty metal tube and to use for cultivation of fires in campaigns.
