How to find mix temperature

How to find mix temperature

The practical value has determination of temperature of mix of two liquids. In this case two options are considered. The first – determination of temperature of mix of uniform liquids. For this purpose find their masses and reference temperatures, and then calculate mix temperature. The second – mix of different liquids. Then for determination of its temperature find also their specific heat.

It is required to you

  • thermometer, scales or measured cylinder, table of specific thermal capacities of substances.

Instruction

1. Temperature of mix uniform zhidkostace determine by the help of scales the mass of the mixed liquids in kilograms. With water (most widespread) it is possible to measure it in a case volumeby in liters by means of a measured cylinder. The number of liters is in number equal to the mass of water in kilograms. Take temperature to each liquid in degrees Celsius. One of them will have big temperature, and another smaller. The first will give heat, and another - to take away. Upon termination of process of their temperature will even out.

2. Find the work of mass of warmer liquid on its temperature and put it with the work of mass of colder liquid on its temperature. Divide the received result into the sum of mass of liquids (t= (m1 • t1+m2 • t2) / (m1+m2)). Temperature of mix of uniform liquids will be result. At practical mixing it is necessary to neutralize as much as possible influence of external factors therefore it is better to make mixing in a calorimeter.

3. Temperature of mix various zhidkosteypered mixing surely make sure that it is possible practically. For example, it will not be possible to mix water and oil - oil will appear on a water surface. Find the masses and reference temperatures of liquids by the technique described in the previous point. Find these sizes for liquids which you mix in the table of specific thermal capacities.

4. Further it make the following sequence of mathematical operations: - find the work of specific heat of liquid with a bigger reference temperature on its weight and temperature; - find the work of specific heat with a smaller reference temperature on its weight and temperature; - find the sum of the numbers received in Paragraphs 1 and 2; - find the work of specific heat of liquid with a bigger reference temperature on value of this temperature; - find the work of specific heat of liquid with a smaller reference temperature on value of this temperature; - find the sum of the numbers received in Paragraphs 4 and 5; - divide the number which turned out in Paragraph 3 on the number which turned out in Paragraph 6. t= (c1·m1·t1+ c2·m2·t2) / (c1·m1+ c2·m2).
