Vitriol (from fr. couperose) – the general name for crystalline hydrates of sulfates of bivalent metals. Copper vitriol – the blue pentahydrate consisting of Meda's sulfate and molecules of water. It has a chemical formula of CuSO (4) •5H(2)O.

Instruction
1. Create saturated solution of sulfate of copper. On 200 ml of water at 20oc not less than 72 g of CuSO (4) are required. Small kristallik attach salts to a thread and lower a priming in solution. Cover capacity with a gauze or filter paper. Leave solution slowly to evaporate at the room temperature. This way to grow up a crystal quite long, it can take weeks or even months.
2. With increase in water temperature the solubility of sulfate of copper increases. But since 80oc changes not strongly. Pour 300 ml of water into a big glass, add 200 g of copper vitriol, put on a sandy bath, heat. From time to time stir slowly solution until all salt is dissolved.
3. Remove a glass from a sandy bath, put on a ceramic tile and let's solution cool down. Bring a priming – a copper sulfate crystal on a thread. The priming can be dissolved, but it is not important. The bulk of sulfate of copper will drop out in a deposit.
4. Take a thread from solution, repeat the procedure. Again heat a glass on a sandy bath until the deposit is dissolved. Switch off heating, cover a glass with a cup Understand or just glass cover, wait a little.
5. Bring in solution a priming with crystals, cover a glass and leave for the night. By the morning on a thread the crystal of 5 cm in size is formed. It is a fast way to grow up a crystal of copper vitriol.
6. At a fast way the priming is not of particular importance, it is possible to lower even a "empty" thread. Use the solution which remained after experience for slow cultivation of a big crystal.
