Torque, power, fuel consumption by the engine to a large extent depend on the frequency of turns of the crankshaft of the engine. The tachometer – the device allowing the driver of the car to trace the current parameters of turns of the crankshaft in real time. This device is installed not on all models of cars. Depending on model the tachometer can be connected to the electrical circuitry of the car in several ways.

Instruction
1. The majority of such devices determine engine speed by quantity of impulses in the ignition system. At connection to different ignition systems (contact, contact and electronic, contactless electronic) it is applied various ways of registration of these impulses.
2. For installation of the electromechanical tachometer in the car with the contact ignition system connect a minus conclusion to "mass" of the car. Connect a positive wire of food to that terminal in the ignition lock on which tension at turning on of the ignition system moves. Connect an alarm wire to that terminal of the coil of ignition to which the breaker of a trambler is connected. On this terminal, at rotation of the crankshaft of the engine, impulses of a certain form are formed. These impulses are registered the tachometer and it determines the current engine speed by them.
3. For connection of the electronic tachometer connect its conclusions of food the same as it is described above. Connect an alarm wire of such tachometer to the special metal platform fixed on a high-voltage wire. Depending on the tachometer device this platform fastens on the central high-voltage wire or on that which goes from the distributor of a trambler to 1 cylinder of the engine. Carefully insulate this platform, track that it did not concern "mass" of the car. Define the exact place of fastening of an alarm wire, having read the instruction to the installed device.
4. After installation and connection of the tachometer check the accuracy of its indications. Start the car engine. Establish its turns within 2500 rpm. Via the special extender concern an axis of the ratchet mechanism on the engine crankshaft the sensor of the hour mechanical tachometer. Consider its indications. They should not will cause a stir from indications of the installed tachometer more than for 5%. Check thus correctness of indications of the installed tachometer on different engine speed.
