How to make a fireball

How to make a fireball

Physicists still argues on what exactly the phenomenon is the cornerstone of a fireball. One of theories says that it is caused by impact on substance of superhigh-frequency radiation. There are experiments allowing to receive thus similarity of a fireball.

Instruction

1. Use the old microwave oven which is not used to cooking any more for carrying out experience. At the same time, however, it has to be absolutely serviceable. In particular it concerns the microswitches which are sensors of the closed condition of a door. In the door there should not be no sort of cracks, holes.

2. Make sure that the case and a door of the furnace do not miss microwave. Use for this purpose the special device released by the industry especially for such measurements. Do not apply a wavemeter, even calculated on the operating frequency of the furnace (2.4 GHz) - its sensitivity can not be enough. Carrying out measurement, do not turn on the oven without loading. Put in it, for example, a small brick.

3. Take the sheet of glass in the form of a square with the party in 10 centimeters. In its middle drill an opening of such diameter that the wooden toothpick was densely inserted into it. Ways of drilling of glass are described in literature and on the Internet. Fix the end of a toothpick in an opening.

4. Put the video camera in front of the furnace and include it on record. As experience is dangerous, it is better not to put itself at additional risk, carrying out it repeatedly. It is more rational to film once it, and then to look so many time how many there is a wish.

5. Put glass with the toothpick directed up in the middle of the rotating oven bowl. Set fire to a toothpick. Close the furnace, turn on it for three seconds at full capacity without grill, and then immediately disconnect. You will see a small fireball which at shutdown immediately will disappear. You do not make experiment longer than three seconds at all. If from the first the fireball did not turn out, do not repeat experiment any more.

6. Open the furnace and extinguish a toothpick. Switch off record. If desired, lay out the video shot by you on a video hosting. Compare it to the videos shot by other experimenters.
